Scotch Valley Ranch recently introduced new CBD Pet Tinctures and CBD Pet Treats. Available for purchase online, through local farmers markets (indoors in winter) in the Catskill region and pet stores in the northeast such as Petpourri in Lakeville, CT and Little L’s Bakery on Atlantic Avenue in Brooklyn.
CBD products for pets include chewable treats, oils or tinctures that are placed under the tongue or perhaps easier to mix into your pet’s food, and creams that can be applied to the skin. Preliminary studies have found that placing the CBD oil or tincture under the tongue stayed in the bloodstream the longest and performed consistently in various types of dogs.
CBD for Dogs May Help with Aches
Our CBD Pet Treats contain CBD and are wheat, corn and soy free. Other ingredients include rice bran, cane molasses, cheese flavor, rice four, purified water, tapioca starch, lecithin, safflower oil, vegetable glycerin, passion flower, valerian root, ginger root, ascorbic acid, sorbic acid, calcium propionate, broad spectrum hemp extract, Vitamin E and d-a-tocopheral acetate. Our treats contain a total delta 9 THC concentration that does not exceed 0.3% on a dry weight basis.
Derived from our ranch-grown Cherry Wine hemp flower, our CBD Pet Tinctures contain whole plant full-spectrum extraction and are vegan, lab tested, gluten and alcohol-free.

Many of the preliminary studies of CBD and pets are too small to be used across all pets. CBD has increased comfort and activity in dogs with osteoarthritis and reduced seizures for dogs with epileptic seizures. CBD does not have many side effects in dogs, although, in some cases, CBD may affect the liver’s function.
Since the CBD market is not well regulated, pet owners need to be wary of CBD products that are not listed on the label. For example, THC, is toxic to dogs and cats. Before giving your pet any kind of medication or supplement, including CBD, you should always consult a veterinarian first.
